The aromatization of a C_8-C_9 fraction (105—155℃)of Fischer-Tropsch naphtha over chromia-alumina catalyst at various temperatures and space velocities has been investigated. Under these conditions, about 37% (based on feed stock) of xytene-ethylbenzene fraction is obtained, which consists mainly of ethylbenzene and o-xylene. On regeneration, over 93% of coke-deposition can be easily burned off, but a small amount of coke remains unburned, and shows no significant effect on the activity of catalyst. The C_8-C_9 fraction used contains 13% of olefins. Removal of the olefins from it decreases the coke formation rate, and increases the aromatic content in the liquid product.

The percentages by weight of aromatics, n-paraffins, isoparaffins, cyclohexanes and cyclopentanes in the gasoline fraction are 4.6, 23.4, 34.0, 24.0 and 7.0 respectively. The results of this combined analytical method may be satisfactorily duplicated.
