The paper discuessed the water balanee in landfill site leachate and compored various models for predicting leachate. Some problems existing in practical use had been pointed out. The conclusion is that leachate recharge will cause changes in the physical characteristics of landfill soil rayer, affect the water balance in landfill site.

Landfill leachate can be greatly reduced through soil evaporation under the recycling irrigation .

The modeling method was applied to simulate landfill soil layer. Under recycling irrigation condition, moisture saturated degree of surface soil is improved, and the condition of soil evaporation can be affected. The soil evaporation is performed with potential evaporation, equal to or even greater than water surface evaporation. Landfill leachate can be greatly reduced through soil evaporation under the recycling irrigation.
