The calculation, analysis and comparison of the nonlinear evolution of free electron laser (FEL) amplifier, which consists of realizable Wigglers such as linearly polarized Wiggler with quadropole focusing and parabolic pole face Wiggler, have been carried out by a 3-D computer code FEL-2-A. The FEL-2-A which is based on the single-particle theory is composed of a set of nonlinear differential equations. These equations include the differential equations describing the self-consistent evolution of TEmn and TMmn modes in a loss-free rectangular waveguide and electron trajectories effected by photo fields. The par-axial and adiabatic slow-varying approximation have been used. The space charge forces have been neglected. The initial distribution of electron beam in phase space (y, ^, Xj, yxj,/?,2) is provided by Monta Carlo method.The numerical results of FEL-2-A have been compared with those of FRED and the experimental data of LLNL (TEOl) .The result is satisfied. Using this code, the FEL output power effected by the different linearly polarized Wiggler forms, input power and other relevent parameters has been studied. All these primary simulation results are useful for designing 4 MeV FEL amplifier and its experiment. In this code, the resonant particle equations are used in design phase. It provided the amplitude and/or wavelength of Wiggler for simulation, so the variation of Wiggler is tailored carefully to match the electron energy and the output power is enhanced greatly. The longitudinal space charge force has been considered. All of these considerations will be given in other paper.

Motion equations of electrons and the evolution of optical field in FEL oscillators written in 2-D cylinder coordinates have been solved by numerical simulations . In no-source region (outside Wiggler), the no-source, paraxial wave equation obtained by non-self-consistent method has been deduced; and the correspondent code R-2D has been programmed. It is found that has been the agreement between the results of 2-D numerical simulation by R-2D and those of Gaussian beam approximation is quite satisfactory when...

Motion equations of electrons and the evolution of optical field in FEL oscillators written in 2-D cylinder coordinates have been solved by numerical simulations . In no-source region (outside Wiggler), the no-source, paraxial wave equation obtained by non-self-consistent method has been deduced; and the correspondent code R-2D has been programmed. It is found that has been the agreement between the results of 2-D numerical simulation by R-2D and those of Gaussian beam approximation is quite satisfactory when a source is considered. Under the same condition of computation , the simulation results obtained by R-2D is rather approximate to those of FELEX at LANL. After the primary simulation and analysis, we think that the experimental data published by LANL is physically rational , and its simulation results is credible. At last, some simulation results of Beijing FEL project are presented.

在柱二维坐标系中,用数值计算方法求解了摇摆器内电子模拟方程组、光场方程组和无源区(不含摇摆器区)经非自适应方法变换后的无源旁轴波动方程并设计了相应的程序R_2D。用该程序计算的数值结果表明,在有源条件下二维数值模拟结果与高斯光束近似下的数值模拟结果符合较好;取完全相同的计算条件R-2D程序与洛斯阿拉莫斯实验室(LANL)的FELEX程序的计算结果符合较好;初步认为LANL实验数据的物理图象合理,数值结果基本可信;最后给出北京自由电子激光器(BFEL)的一些物理数据。
