(1) The histological structure of the retina of Callosciurus erythraeus was described. The receptor layer, like tree squirrels in general, consists of two rows of cells. (2) Both diffuse light (illuminating the whole retina) and light in Maxwellian view (40°) were used to study the electroretinogram of the animal. Weak stimulus elicits a pure b-wave which transforms to a pure-cone type of response as the intensity of stimulation is increased. (3) Spectral sensitivity curves determined by using diffuse light: The curve determined during darkness resembles the absorption spectra of the squirrel rhodopsin (λ_(max) 502 mμ) except that it is displaced some 5mμ toward the long wave-length region. Under light adaptation of 45—145 Td (3—3.5 log units above ERG threshold), the curve shows a relatively heightened sensitivity in the long wave-length region of the spectrum as compared to the curve determined in the dark, while in the blue region, no change in relative sensitivity was observed. The general trend of the curve has not reached the photopic S_λ curve for most diurnal species of squirrels as determined by previous workers. (4) Spectral sensitivity curves determined by using light in Maxwellian view: The curve determined under an adapting light of 24,000—42,000 Td coincides practically with that determined by using diffuse light under much weaker light adaptation (45—145 Td). But the curve determined in the dark shows some displacement to the long wave-length in comparison to that obtained with the use of diffuse light under similar condition of dark adaptation. (5) Curves relating log incremental threshold to log intensity of adapting light were determined both for blue and for red light. When diffuse illumination was used, the curve for blue light is quite linear and has an average slope of about 0.5— 0.6, while that for red light shows a change of slope from 0.25 to 0.5, indicating quite early occurrence of Purkinje shift. Curves determined with the use of light in Maxwellian view both for red and for blue have an average slope of 0.6—0.7. (6) After preexposure to a light in Maxwellian view having a luminance of 340,000 Td for 2 min, the threshold for eliciting a constant b-wave falls by 3.3 log units after full dark adaptation. The fall usually takes place in two stages, the first being quite large and reaching practically a stable value at the 16—18th min. Thereafter, a secondary fall may take place, but this rarely goes beyond 0.3 log units in a period of 30—40 min. (7) Three wavelets superposed upon the b-wave can be seen under suitable conditions. During the course of dark adaptation, the small wavelet with the shortest latency recovers first. During light adaptation, the small wavelet with the longest latency is suppressed first. The suppressed wavelet can be brought back again by increasing the intensity of stimulation. During asphyxiation, the wavelet with long latency disappears first. The b-wavelets can be evoked by all monochromatic lights.

Seismic wavelet is a basic unit in the composition of seismic record, it can be simulated from a series of parameters. Once these parameters are obtained, the wavelet can be determined. So, making wavelet is, in fact, only to solve for these parameters. The factors which affect these parameters and the variation law of the parameters are analysed, and the possibility of solving the parameters from actual wave records is explored in this paper.

In seismic prospecting, the 3-D ray tracing for plane reflectors with arbitrary inclination is a forward problem. In accordance with the principle of geometric seismology, a series of recurrence formulae have been derived by ray tracing for the multi-inclination plane reflectors. In seismic prospecting, the 3-D ray tracing for plane reflectors with arbitrary inclination is a forward problem. In accordance with the principle of geometric seismology, a series of recurrence formulae have been derived by ray tracing for the multi-inclination plane reflectors. Therefore, all raypaths travelled, the points of rays passing through the reflectors, the travel time, the average velocity, the RMS velocity and the amplitudes variation of the wavelets inflected, transmitted and refracted can thus be obtained. With the derived formulae, the ray tracing has been successfully implemented by computer and the synthetic seismograms have been obtained. Hopefully, the derivation of these formulae will be very helpful in conducting 3-D survey and in our research work of seismic prospecting in a deep going way.

任意倾斜平界面三维射线追踪,是地震勘探工作的正问题。它根据几何地震学的原理,按射线追踪的办法,对多层倾斜平界面作数学推导,可得出一套递推公式。它可求得射线所经过的路径,射线通过各界面的位置,波传播的时间,并从中求得平均速度、均方速度,以及地震子波经界面反射、透射和折射后振幅的变化。对导出的公式,经计算机实现射线追踪,并通过模仿野外地震勘探得出理论记录。该公式的导出,对开展三维地震勘探和地震勘探的深入研究具有一定的意义。
