Biofouling in cooling water systems can be a serious industrial problem and many techniques have been tried to solve it. Experimentson the combining use of ultrasound and a small concentration of ozone(2.2-2.8mg/l/h) for biofouling control were carried out in a simulated cooling water system. The results showed that biofilm growth on the tube surface can be well controlled with this combining technique.

The Biofilter packed with coke was utilized to degrade styrene-containing wastegas. We also carryed out circulation aeratating study of biofilm growth on the coke. At first, the adsorption action of cokes was dominating. When cokes were all covered with biofilm , the biodegreding action of biofilm was principal.Then the removal effect of styrene in biofilter was about from 35 to 55 percent steadly.

The application efficiency of two kinds of elasticity plastic fillers, hydrophilic filler and hydrophobic filler in wastewater treatment process were studied. The experimental results showed that hydrophilic filler was better than hydrophobic filler. The wastewater treatment efficiency was increased 15%-30% in anaerobic and 5%-10% in aerobic process by hydrophilic modification of filler. The hydrophilicity can also increase the biofilm growth speed on the filler surface.

通过比较普通塑料弹性填料与亲水性改进后的塑料弹性填料在污水生化处理中的应用效果发现 :亲水性改进的塑料弹性填料在污水的厌氧生化处理中可提高污水处理效率 15 %— 30 % ,在好氧生化处理中可提高污水处理效率5 %— 10 % ,且亲水性改进大大提高了塑料弹性填料的挂膜速度。
