Refining experiment was carried out in laboratory to study the potential of magnesium as a refining agent in liquid steel and the metallurgical effects of magnesium-containing alloys in deoxidation, desulphuri-zation and inclusion modification. Some comparision with SiCa was also given. Results indicate that magnesium has a good effect on purifying liquid steel. 5ppm of total oxygen in rotor steel was obtained after magnesium treatment. At higher ratio of S content to O content, a reasonable effect of magnesium on desulphurization was obtained simultaneously with deoxidization. Under inert atmosphere, the average efficiency of denitrogenation was 52%. The removal of nitrogen from steel was closely related to the floatingup action of magnesium bubbles. The distribution and morphology of in elusions were essentially controlled by the addition of magnesium. Typic inclusions after magnesium treatment were small, discrete and globular complex inclusions. The role of magnesium in nitrogen fixation, phosphorus fixation and refining second dendrite arm was also proved experimentally. And a regression equation in the form of power function was obtained to express the relationship between the second dendrite arm and the residual magnesium content. After magnesium treatment the ductility of steel was increased at high temperature.

Also the length of synaptic active zone in cerebral cortex was obviously shorterned. All these suggested that there might be a close relationship between the magnesium-induced impairment of learning and memory and the changes in PSD and length of synaptic active zone.

Methods Neural cells from neonatal SD rats cultured for 12 days were randomly assigned to 3 groups: normal group, hypoxia control group and magnesium treatment group. Except for the control group, the other two were subjected to 1 mmol/L KCN to induce hypoxic condition. Then the magnesium treatment group was given 6×10 4 mmol/L MgSO 4. Morphology was observed under microscope and electron microscope and A value was measured by MTT assay. Results After 12 h hypoxia, cell density of hypoxia group without treatment reduced, neurite shrank and tailing increased. Mitochondria was swollen and membrane of some disrupted. Twenty four hours later, celluar fragment massed up and lots of vacuole appeared. While magnesium treatment group showed that the extent of neurite shrinking, mitochondria1 swelling and vacuole was much less than hypoxia group. A value was significantly different between normal group and hypoxia ( P <0 01) and magnesium treatment group and hypoxia ( P <0.01). Conclusion In early stage of hypoxia, administration of magnesium could improve the energetic metabolism of cells, the mechanism may include resloration of the membrane integrity, reducing the cell edema and increase of cellular vitality and survival amount so as to ameliorate the cell injury. The mechanism may be versatile. It might include blocking excitatory amino acid receptors.

目的 探讨硫酸镁对体外培养的神经细胞缺氧所致损伤的保护作用及其可能的机制。方法 将培养至 12d的乳鼠神经细胞 ,随机分为正常培养组、对照缺氧组和硫酸镁治疗组 ,加入氰化钾以阻断细胞氧化磷酸化反应 ,观察硫酸镁对缺氧神经细胞的影响 ,作用 12、2 4h后 ,在光、电镜下观察细胞形态变化 ,并以MTT法测定细胞活力。结果 氰化钾作用后 ,对照缺氧组细胞密度减小、突起萎缩、线粒体肿胀、嵴崩解、核浓缩 ;硫酸镁治疗组损伤程度明显较缺氧组轻 ;正常培养组与对照缺氧组MTT法测定A值 :12h为 0 2 87± 0 0 4 1、0 174± 0 0 2 1;2 4h为 0 2 93± 0 0 35、0 10 1± 0 0 2 9(P <0 0 1) ;硫酸镁治疗组A值 :12h为 0 2 14± 0 0 5 3、2 4h为 0 198± 0 0 2 6 ,与缺氧组比较差异有显著性(P <0 0 1)。分别比较各组 12h与 2 4h的A值 ,差异也有显著性 (P <0 0 1)。结论 硫酸镁用于缺氧早期 ,可减轻神经细胞的后续损伤 ,其机制可能为包括阻断兴奋性氨基酸受体在内的多种作用
