It is reported that N ethylaniline could be efficiently synthesized from aniline and ethanol in the presence of Raney Ni, and N benzyl N ethyl aniline could be conveniently prepared from N ethylaniline and benzyl chloride with the phase transfer catalyst. The yield of the first synthesis is about 30% more than that reported in the classical method.
