Furthermore, because of the close relations to the big clan,the law, the social organization and the concepts of the filial duty, the study on thechanging history of Sangfu system not only describes the internal changes ofimplications in the classics, but also explores the interaction between the classics andthe society as a whole.
It is of great significance to probe into the intension of new filial morality and its characteristics and way and method under the socialist historical condition. It is an urgent and important social project at present,and also a topic for us to discuss in forming harmonious society.
The evolving role of filial piety in eldercare in Hong Kong
In our study, we examine how prevalent the notion of filial piety remains in a modern Chinese society like Hong Kong as an initiative for individuals to become caregivers for their parents, and how it is practiced in actual caregiving scenarios.
From the experiences of the caregivers analyzed in our paper, it can be seen that the Confucian notion of filial piety as a cultural norm still runs deep even in a post-industrial society like Hong Kong.
