The inheritance of coat colour in pigs was investigated from data on 4617 piglets (403 litters) involving 16 mating combinations. It is concluded that white colour in Landrace and Large white is dominant to headham black colour in the fine local breed Tongcheng Swine. All the progeny (1572 piglets from matings of Landrace or Large White (Y) to a variety of crossbred carrying the gene for non-white colour is white as well. Heterozygotes in the Y x (LxT) ♂♂ were mated with homozygous recessive individuals (T)...

The inheritance of coat colour in pigs was investigated from data on 4617 piglets (403 litters) involving 16 mating combinations. It is concluded that white colour in Landrace and Large white is dominant to headham black colour in the fine local breed Tongcheng Swine. All the progeny (1572 piglets from matings of Landrace or Large White (Y) to a variety of crossbred carrying the gene for non-white colour is white as well. Heterozygotes in the Y x (LxT) ♂♂ were mated with homozygous recessive individuals (T) ♀♀ to produce a total of 102 backeross pigs. Foity-seven of these pigs are white, whereas the remaining55pigs are nonwhite, the ratio of colour phenotype comforms to 1∶1(x_2~C0.05). The results of the remeinder nine mating (8-16mating) combinations, except one, are also discordant with what was expected theoretically. It is necessary to diagnose carriers of recessive non-white genes, cull them and lower speedily the gene frequency of non-white colour in developing the Hubei white Swine and its own lines. For this reason, three kinds of methods of test cross (test matings) for colour were used: (1) A candidate whose genetype is unknown mated to a homozygous recessive individual (T); (2) A candidate boar (sow) mated to known a heterozygous sow (boar); (3) A candidate boar mated to sows in the general population. Through test cross 14 boars were proved to be free of non-white genes at a certain lavel of prohability and all the pigs they afterwards produce are white. It has been proved by practice that using above methods of test cross for diagnosis carriers of recessive non-white genes can obtain more accuracy. Selection for white colour based on the conclusion from the information of test mating is effective.

用16种交配组合所产4617头仔猪的毛色研究证实:长白猪和大约克猪的白毛色对地方良种猪的两头黑毛色为显性。与几种携带有非白毛基因的杂种交配所产的1572头仔猪同样全为白毛。当用大长通中的杂合子公猪同纯合隐性通城母猪回交时,所得102头回交仔猪中47头为白色,55头为非白色,毛色表型比率与1:1相符(x_c~20.05)。杂合子公猪相交所得的457头仔猪中白毛与非白毛分别为355头与102头,符合予期的3:1(P>0.05)。其余9个交配组合中(8—19组),除一个组合外,也都与预期相符。在培育湖北白猪及其品系的工作中,识别非白毛基因的携带者并予以淘汰,迅速地降低非白毛基因频率。采用三种毛色测交法:(Ⅰ)未知基因型的被测者同纯合隐性个体通城猪交配;(Ⅱ)被测公(母)猪同已知为杂合子的母(公)猪交配;(Ⅲ被测公猪与大群母猪交配。在一定概率水平下被判定为不携带非白毛基因的显性纯合子。公猪在以后的交配所产的仔猪,全为白毛。证明用测定交法以识别非白毛在因携带者的准确性较高,根据测交结果并藉以选择白毛是有效的。

Transferrin phenotypes have been detected in all domestic animals examined so far. Various investigations abroad have indicated some relationship between transferrin phenotype and reproductive performance in pigs, cattle and sheep. In order to explore such a relationship in Chinese pigs and to apply it to the selection and breeding of swine,the phenotypes of scrum transferrin were examined in 217 samples from Ganzhou White pigs of Jiangxi Province by the starch gel electrophoresis technique. Transferrin phenotypes have been detected in all domestic animals examined so far. Various investigations abroad have indicated some relationship between transferrin phenotype and reproductive performance in pigs, cattle and sheep. In order to explore such a relationship in Chinese pigs and to apply it to the selection and breeding of swine,the phenotypes of scrum transferrin were examined in 217 samples from Ganzhou White pigs of Jiangxi Province by the starch gel electrophoresis technique. Protein in 180 samples occurred in various molecular forms exhibiting multiple band patterns on the stained gel after electrophoresis. According to Michael's work in which transferrin phenotypes were identified in starch gel eletrophoresis by autoradiography with Fe~(59) The locations of the bands were determined by electrophoresis relative mobility. Six transferrin phenotypes (AA, BB, CC, AB,AC, BC) were separated in the Ganzhou White. The gene frequency of T_f BB was the highest among the breeds (including Yorkshire and Taiwan native swine) examined, while that of the T_fAA was higher than that of the T_fCC. The results obtained were in agree ment with a genetic theory of serum protein.

转铁蛋白(Transferrin)是血浆中能够运载铁的一种β球蛋白。已发现家畜血清转铁蛋白都有遗传变异的类型。国外许多调查研究指出,猪、牛、绵羊在转铁蛋白(T_f)型与生殖性能之间有些联系。为了探索我国猪、牛、羊中是否也存在这种联系,结合猪种选育,对江西赣州白猪的转铁蛋白类型进行初步的测定。采取赣州白猪217头的血清,进行淀粉凝胶电泳,其中180头猪的血清转铁蛋白在染色的凝胶上显示多样的带型。T_f型的测定以Hesselholt(1969)所做的经Fe~(59)放射自显影确定的图谱为依据,按电泳相对迁移率计算区带分布位置,初步将这些血清的转铁蛋白区分为AA、BB、CC、AB、AC、BC六个型。从这六个T_f型可以看出赣州白猪中T_f~B基因最多,T_f~A基因次之,T_f~C基因最少,是与血清蛋白质型遗传的规律相符的。
