But under the condition of drought, the Pinus tabulaeformis seedling is characterized by drought tolerance at high water potential, a greater bound water content and stiffer and thicker cell wall being available for holding its water and keeping higher water potential and turgor. The Platycladus orientalis seedling is chacterized by drought tolerance at low water potential.a greater elasticity of cell wall and a certain osmotic adjustment ability being available for keeping turgor as water potential decreasing, and its plasma being of greater dehydration tolerance ability which allows the seedlings to survive at negative turgor.

The seven trees species——Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica etc. were measured by using the Preesure-Volume Technique for two years (1986—1987) in semi-arid region, Huhhot, Inner Mongolia. The measured trees planred in the same site types were middle-aged. The results showed that the whole Osmotic Potential (π_P) and Relative Water Content (RWC) of measured branches in the early period when the protoplasm separated from the cell wall could be used as physiological index for comparing the drought-endurance of trees....

The higher value of π_P (absolute value) and lower value of RWC are physiological features of stronger drought-endurance. The indexes changed with seasons and phenological phase during the annual growch period. During growing period of branch the value of π_P is least and the value of RWC is the greatest, but the value of π_P is the greatest, the value of RWC is the least when the branches all lignified. By means of using the minimum value of π_P and the annual variation value of π_P express the drought-endurance, the results are satisfactory.

应用压力室技术和PV曲线法,在地处半干旱区的呼和浩特地区,对樟子松等七个树种在相同立地条件下栽培的中龄树木进行了两年的测定研究。结果表明:被测树木小枝初始质壁分离时的整体渗透势(π_P)及与其相对应的小枝整体相对含水量(RWC)可以作为比较树木耐旱性强弱的生理指标。较大的π_P值(指绝对值,以下同)及较低的RWC值是耐旱性强的生理特征。在树木年生长周期中,上述指标有随季节和物候而变化的规律。嫩枝生长期的π_P值最小,对应的RWC值最大;枝条完全木质化的成熟期π_P值最大,对应的RWC值最低。用树木年生长周期中π_P值的最低值和年变幅表示被测树种耐旱性强弱,得到了较为满意的结果。
