Confronted with the state stagnated in teaching reading of college Engli- sh,this paper analyses the causes of the problems through personal teaching practice and offers methods to solve them.On the basis of“Teaching Sylla- bus of College English”,it makes some transformation to the trodional,inte- nsive teaching method.It points out that reading should focus on acquiring information in discouse and fostering students' ability to read better.

本文结合大学英语阅读教学目前面临的问题,通过亲身的教学实践和体会,剖析了导致这些问题的原因。提出了解决问题的办法。按大纲要求,对传统的精读课教学方法进行了改革。指出大学英语阅读教学应立足语篇,培养学生较强的阅读能力。

:In English reading course,there are some erroneous tendencies about the relationshipsbetween reading comprehension and reading speed,between discourse analysis and sentence analy-sis, between intensive reading,extersive reading and fast reading,which severely interfere with theimprovement of the students'reading abilities. This essay is trying to dwell on how to overcomethese erroneous tendencies and on how to correctly handle these relationships.

英语阅读教学过程中,在阅读理解的准确性与阅读速度、语篇教学与句子教学以及精读、泛读与快读之间的关系问题上往往存在一些偏向,严重影响了学生阅读能力的提高.本文试图从不同角度,就如何克服这些偏向,正确处理好这些关系进行论述.

The development of students'competence to read in English requires in the first place the clarification of the nature of reading,on the one band. and of the potential ways to attain the desired goal, on the other hand. Based on a review of the literature on reading, this paper indicates that reading is a meaning-focused activity. It is a purposeful meanting constructing process which requires the reader,s active interaction with the writer/text and his use of top-down as well as bottom-up processing. In other...

In other words, it is meaning rather than form which constitutes the focus of reading and thus the focus of teaching students to read. Some implications for the teaching of English reading are also given in this paper.

培养学生的英语阅读能力,必须首先明确阅读的性质和培养学生英语阅读能力的可能方式。阅读是以意义为中心的一种行为,是一种有目的的创造意义的过程。它要求读者动用"自下而上"(bottom-up)和"自上而下"(top-dowu)的言语处理方式与作者/读物展开积极的交流。换言之,阅读行为的中心是意义,而不是言语形式,学习阅读的中心也是如此。同时,就如何实施英语阅读教学提出了几点看法。
