A series of ions [Fe3O(O2CR) n]+(n = 2 -6) , [Fe3O(O2CR)nO]+ (n = 1 - 4) , [Fe2O(O2CR)n]+(n = 1 - 3) and [Fe2-(O2CR)n]+ (n = 2 - 4) , as well as the adduct ions with matrices, [Fe3O-(O2CR)n · NBA -1]+(n = 3 - 5) (NBA = m-nitrobenzyl alcohol) were observed by FAB Mass Spectra. Whereas in the case of EI-MS, besides the similer ions mentioned above the cations involving three terminally coordinated H2O, [Fe3O (O2CR)6 (H2O)3]+ and the adduct ions with their parent carboxylic acids, [Fe3O(O2CR)n(H2O)3· RCOOH+H +] n = 4 -6 were also detected. On the basis of study of the fragmentation regularity some useful enlightments are drawn.

Fast ion bombardment mass spectrometry (FIBMS) was used to identify cyclic oligomers containing aromatic rings produced in polycondensation reactions of poly aryletherketone, polyarylethersulfone and two polyarylesters using glycerol, thio-glycerol and 3-nitrobenzyl alcohol (3-NBA) as matrixes, respectively. The existence of different size (n value) cyclic oiigomcrs and their distributions were determined. The results indicated that the FIBMS was a powerful and rapid analytical method for the cyclic oligomers....
