In this paper,a oxidizer-ammonium nitrate used in the composite propellants is introduced. It has two important properties: polymorphic phenomenon and hygroscopicity which seriously influences the use of ammonium nitrate in some fields. Consequently, we have to investigate and find out about polymorphic phenomenon and hygroscopicity of the ammonium nitrate to increase quality of the products.

The effects of six compounds in modified double base propellants on the burning rate reduction arepresented. These are hexogen(RDX ),octogen(HMX),1,3,5-triamino-2,4, 6-trinitrobenzene(TATB ), ammonium nitrate,Sucrose octaacetate (SOA) and ammonium oxalate. The distribution andmechanism of the compounds to the burning rate reduction of the gas generator propellants are discussed.Based on the analysis of tested data,several available conclusions are suggested.

研究了GAP/AN推进剂的燃速与硝酸铵放热分解峰温之间的相关性,硝酸铵的放热分解峰温越低,推进剂的燃速越高。用热分析方法筛选出了GAP/AN推进剂有效的燃速调节剂MO,它能促进硝酸铵热分解过程中质子转移反应,因而使GAP/AN推进剂燃速提高。
