Polymethyl methacrylate, polyacrylonitrile, poly-α-methylstyrene andpolystyrene have been investigated by means of CO_2 LPGC. Because theCO_2 Laser can be absorbed efficiently by the samples, no absorbentis required. The degradation ensemble will change as the power density depositedinto the sample varies. Higher power deposition will lead to theincreasing of the fraction of the degradation products resulting from theplume quenching process.

Furthermore, it could be reused for sveral times without a serious loss of activity.

LPGC of butadiene—acrylonitrile 26,butadiene-styrene 30,three dif-ferent compoment AS copolymers,ABS and acrylonitrile-styrene—α—methylstyrene has been described.The possibiliby has been produced forqualitative characterization of copolymers.
