The purpose of this study was to investigate the ground reaction force in the triple jump, using two Ki-stler force platforms and two l6mm cine cameras and a high speed shutter video camera. The following re-sults were obtained: There were two peaks in the vertical ground reaction forces - - the initial peak registeringa magnitude in the range of 10.0 to 14.2 times higher than the body weight (BW) and the second peak,4.5 to 5.0 times higher than BW. The highest initial peak was observed in the "step" phase of the triple jump.The anteroposterior forces recorded in the hop, step and jump pliases showed three peaks. The initial peak ofbraking force registered a magnitude 2.6 to 3.0 times higher than BW and the peak of propulsive force was inthe range of 0.5 to 0.7 times higher than BW.

This relation shows that there exists a size effect on the temperature of cutting surface. As it seems that the size effect is mainly resulted from the rounded cutting edge. The unit cutting force with the same size effect and the vertical component of force related to the characters of the cutting surface has been determined, meanwhile, the relationship between them and the temperature of cutting surface has also been presented.
