The cold work texture and annealing texture, and the effects of degree of cold work to the texture are studied together with the geometric relationship between the type of preferred orientation and the ears. Deformation and heat treatment parameters have been found: the maximum amount of cold work should be lese than 70%, optimum heat treatment temperature should be of 800-900℃, which yields a grain size smaller than 6x.

When this new material is used as cold dies instead of the usual materials, such as tool steels or tungsten carbide, the life of these is longer. The effects of cold-working and ageing treatment on the frequencytempera-ture curves of some kinds of Fe-Ni based alloys (Elinvars) of low resonant--frequency temperature coefficient have been dealt with here.The tested specimens having been cold-worked after hot milling and solution treatment (β1>0),it is observed that the point of minimum value A of the F-T curve moves towards higher temperature and the value of temperature coefficient γf varies from positive to negative.The point of minimum value A moves leftwards as higher temperature ageing and rightwards as lower temperature ageing.It follows that the symbol of γf value varies (cf.fig.4).The value β,temperature coefficient of Young's modulus,may be divided into two parts as β1 and β2 and so the temperature coefficient of frequency γf is expressed by γf=(α+β1+β2)/2 under cold-working,where a be the linear expansion coefficient.Thus,in order to obtain the reasonable technology for treating such alloys of low-frequency temperature coefficient,which appeared by the curve segment to the right of the peak as shown in fig.5 (temperature coefficient of modulus versus Ni wt%),it is necessary to appropriately choose a technological treatment from three possible states according as their different solid solubilities,(a)As γf<,i.e.α+β1<0,the alloy may be treated withquenching after solution treatment + cold-working+ higher temperature ageing treatment,orquenching after solution treatment + lower temperature ageing treatment;(b)As γf>0,i.e.β1>0,the alloy should be treated withquenching after solution treatment + cold-working+ageing treatment,and should not be treated withquenching after solution treatment + ageing treatment (by which γf>0 only);(c)As γf≈0,i.e.α≈-β1,the alloy should be treated withquenching after solution treatment + cold-working + tempering treatment.
