The symposium aims at providing an opportunity for specialists and scholars engaged in studies of seismolo- gy,earthquake engineering and fuzzy mathematics to interflow with each other,so as to exchange the practical experiences in the application and the recent research results of fuzzy mathematics in earthquake prediction,earthquake engineering,assessment of earthquake hazard and civil construction and so on,and to present the new methods and technology of applied fuzzy mathematics in order to promote their further applications in earthquake research.Besides the participants from China as the host country,those from the United States,Japan,Italy,New Zealand,the German Democratic Republic,Spain and France will be in- vited to attend the symposium.This paper briefs the four subjects and their related contents as well as the titles of four comprehensive lectures and more than 50 papers to be presented at the symposium.Most of the papers will be included into the collected papers of the symposium to be published and distributed by the Seismological Press of China.

The Joint Seismological Research Fund of China is open to applications from researchers throughout China in the fields of seismology and geophysics related to earthquake prediction,basic research and some applied research on earthquake engineering,with a national panel for each field examining the applications, basing their decisions on order of priority.The Joint Fund has an amount of three million and seventy thousand Yuan available,and does not bear a color of departmentalism.Researchers throughout China en- gaged in basic and applied research in seismology can file applications,without restrictions as to areas nor departments.In the past year,the Joint Fund received and handled two hundred and five items of applica- tion from flfty-one institutions throughout China,among them,ninety-eight items of research projects of twenty-four institutions have been subsidized.The total amount of subsidy in the fiscal year 1985 is two million and eighty hundred thousand Yuan with a rate of approval of 47.8%. This paper gives a brief account of the progress in the work of the said Joint Fund in the past year, and points out that the fund system plays an active role in reassuring the basic research teams,activating research work,stressing some main points of research and so on.

This paper gives a new conception about magnitude spectra based on the spectral magnitudes of German Prof. S. J. Duda. The writers present then caiculating formula of magnitude spectra and recount its computatinal method, and also show its applications in field data. Compared with spectral magnitudes, the magnitude spectra can describe a seismic wave more completly, and computate quiekly. Fuvlhermore, spectral magnitudes from averaging all frequency fragment's magnitude spectra can be derived. On the contrast,...

During calculating magnitude spectra, displaced spectra and corner frequency are obtained, these parameters can be applicated in seismic engineering.

该文从谱震级的概念引伸出震级谱,推导出计算震级谱的公式,并对实际资料进行了处理。震级谱比谱震级的优越性表现在它更全面地描述了一个地震波,计算迅速,且由震级谱对频率段取平均可以得到谱震级,由谱震级则不能得到震级谱。震级谱不仅与传统的震级标定有一定的衔接性,而且,它全面描述了地震波的能流密度或能量密度。由震级谱计算过程中所提供的位移谱、拐角频率等参数,可以在地震工程学中得到应用。
