They were qualitatively processed by using Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) method of system engineering, and a multilevel stratum structure model for influential factors of the safety status of coal mines was established. In the model, these factors were classified into 6 grades. Accident and occupational disease were in the first grade. Dangerous factors and hazardous factors were in the second grade. Safety technology was in the third grade. Mining process and production equipment were in the fourth grade. Natural condition of coal mine, environment in mining area and devotion to safety were in the fifth grade. Production personnel, safety management and development were in the last grade. Through analyzing the model, either longitudinal or latitudinal relation between any two factors is fully revealed. The extent to which every factor influences the safety status of coal mines is further understood. So it could provide the foundation for developing a new safety status assessment structural model of coal mines for determining the weight of every factor, as well as for constituting safety countermeasures and safeguard in coal mines.
