A digestive experiment was conducted on Japanese sea bass (Lateolabrax sp.), with average weight of 30±1.80 g under water temperature 25±1 ℃. Apparent digestibility of protein, amino acids and apparent availability of phosphorus in various feed ingredients were determined using a reference diet with chromic oxide indicator and test diets that contained 70% of reference diet, by weight, and 30% of the feed ingredient being evaluated. The sea bass has high digestibility of protein in fish meal, soybean meal,peanut meal and rapeseed meal, all more than 80%. The apparent digestibility coefficients of 16 amino acids in each test ingredient were determined. The main regulation showed that amino acid availability values for test ingredients followed similar trend to values of protein digestibility.Amino acid availability values, except for histidine, methionine and valine,in meat and bone meal for fish were lower than those in other test ingredients. Oilseed meal tends to have lower availability for sulphur amino acids(e.g., methionine) than for other amino acids. Histidine was lowest for fish meal while threonine was lowest for meat and bone meal. Rapeseed meal, meat and bone meal and cotton seed meal showed the lower phosphorus availability ranged 8.69%~24.82%, but fish meal showed the highest phosphorus availability 85.52%.
