For charging large amount of imported high grade iron ore with low SiO_2 and high Al_2O_3,the influence of basicity,MgO and Al_2O_3 content on viscosity,melting temperature and desulfurizing capacity of BF slag was studied.
There is serious influence of sharply increasing of Al_2O_3 in slag on blast fumace operation since July at 2004 in WISCO, the reasons related to increasing of Al_2O_3 in slag were studied based on tracing the variation of sample analysis, some useful methods were adapted to control the content of Al_2O_3 in slag, a wonderful result was obtained in the operation of blast furnace at WISGO.
In order to obtain good flow property and high desulfurization capacity of slag,the CaO/SiO2 in the slag of 2500m3 blast furnace of MAGANG should be controlled between 1.05 ~ 1.15, the temperature of slag should be controlled above 1450℃ in the present material and fuel.
Methods for manufacturing glass ceramics from blast furnace slags are described. Some problems concerning the type of nucleating agent, the crystallization process and the colouration of the materials are discussed.
The aim of this paper is to develop the application of blast furnace slag in glassmaking. The melting and refining act of blast furnace slag has been investigated with DTA and infrared absorption spectra. The suitable addition of slag for use in the manufacture of glass bottles is 7.5 to 10 percent in glass batch.
