Abstract According to the practical measure of the variation of induction heat of ingot in the inductor of electromagnetic casting,the effect of working current of the inductor on the heat distribution of ingot is analyzed. The profile of the induction heat in horizontal and vertical direction in the ingot is studied and compared with the results of numerical simulation, thus achieving the curves of average temperature in ingot crosssection with varying metal height,the gross induction heat and the heating power are also calculated.
