Drill cuttings are easily accessible data for research of petroleum reservoir. But they have yet ot be used to the best. Our experience proves their applicability in sedimentary facies study,especially in newly found oil-field or desert area where cores are very difficult to obtain. The authors also present in this paper a new method of quantitatively processing cuttings data and applying the results to facies analysis. Examples evidence that this is a practical and useful approach.

The flight capacity of BPH and WBPH is not more than 30 hrs and there is no evidene for their reemigrations, but the emigration and immigration areas are 1000-1600km apart. How did the immigrated BPHpopulation cover so long distance during 30 hrs ? It is only possible if there was a high speed southwestairflow (more than 12 m/s ) at the altitude of their flying pathways. So, a hypothesis on the excitationmechanism of rice planthopper plagues in northern China was presented based on the migratory behaviour ofBPH and WBPH, and the general circulation of the atmosphere in East Asia. It is suggested that the plaguewill be triggered when the temporal and spatial variation of the northward low level jet (LLJ) coincides withthe emigration periods and regions of the outbreak populations of BPH and WBPH in central eastern China,and that the plague spots will be consistent with the forward position of the LLJ. where rainstorms willgenerally be expected. Forthemore, the research methodology for the verification of the hypothesis wasdiscussed.

北方稻区地处稻飞虱北迁的波及区,稻虱问题一直被人们所忽视,致使灾变突发时猝不及防,1991年冀东飞虱大暴发便是最惨痛的教训。稻飞虱的飞行能力不超过30小时,且迁飞方式为直达型,而迁出区与迁入区相隔1000-1600km以上,南北稻区的发生程度也无直接的因果关系,是什么因素使得大发生虫源在不超过30小时的一次连续飞行中到达了千余公里之外的北方稻区?本文通过对大量文献资料的综合分析,从飞虱的飞行特性和北迁运载气流入手,以东亚大气低层环流为背景审视飞虱在有限时间内远近北方致灾的成因机制,提出了以北上低空急流的时空变化与南方大发生虫源迁出期(区)相吻合、其前沿所至与北方迁入区相一致作为北方稻虱成灾的启动因子的假说,并提出了验证该假说的研究方法和技术路线,为揭示北方稻虱成灾的奥秘,完善灾变监测技术和预警系统奠定了基础。

本文对我省作物育种攻关研究工作的成就和问题作了坦率的分析,对育种攻关工作中应注意的方向、方法和技术路线作了论证。提出了突破性和修饰性品种并重的观点,讨论了培育突破性品种和修饰性品种的不同方法。提出了培育多样化品种的方案。以期几年内使我省衣业生产再上一个新台阶。提出了几种培育突破性品种的方案。对育种攻关中的一些技术、政策和解决育种科研经费的方法提出了具体的建议。
