The spiral chute has been proved suitable for separating fine-grained heavy minerals,effective separation size ranging from 0.3 to 0.03mm.Treating Anshan type fine-grained and low-grade hematite ore by the commercial four-start glass-fibre spiral chutes,(?)1200mm,can obtain,after one stage primary separation and one cleaning,a concentrate grading 65-67% iron,with operation recovery 74-76%.This type spiral chute can also be used,with less investment and faster economic effect,to recover iron values from tailings,discarded by existing iron concentration plants.The chute is expected to be promising for treating the ores in which a considerable specific gravity difference is inherent between the valuable minerals and the gangue,such as tin,tungsten,tantalum and niobium ores and other heavy minerals.
