The results showed that TCEP could only condensate in the presence of basic catalysts, and the reaction was speeded up with the increase of the catalysts and tended to a constant when the addition increased to a certain level, the higher the temperature, the quicker the reaction, and the MW of the polycondensate was also increased, the MW decreased when the tempersture was higher than 160℃. The system was neutralized by the reaction of propane oxide with polycondensate, and good result was obtained. The product prepared by this method has good transparency, light colour. low acid value and good durability of flame resistance, and is a good flame retardant for polyurethane and other polymers.

It was confirmed from these results that the reaction betweentung oil and phenol by alkylation via the phenolic nucleus or nucleophilic substitution via the conjugatedtrienes of tung oil,the substitution occurred preferentially at para or ortko position of the pbenol relatlve toits-OH group, phenolic-OH group was not involved at all in the reaction , and that the molecule chains oftung oil were bonded on the backbones of the modified resins.
