Being controlled by the computer, the rheometer is an intelligent instrument, It can work as two—speed, six—speed, continuously—varying—speed, fixed—speed viscometer and gel strength measurment viseometer by pressing different function keys. The rheological characteristics of some mud additive solutions were determined. It is shown that the influence of pressure on the rheological properties of mud additive solutions is less than temperature, especially if the temperature is over 60℃. The relation ship between apparent viscosity, plastic viscosity and temperature , pressure derived from regression can be used in the selection of mud additives.
