We reported previously the antitumour activity of Sb-derivatives of complexones. It was demonstrated that Sb-71 (Sb ammonia triacetic acid) might significantly retard the growth of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma and spindle cell sarcoma in mice, and Guerin carcinoma in rats. It will be of interest to study the direct action of the drug on the tumour cells. We reported previously the antitumour activity of Sb-derivatives of complexones. It was demonstrated that Sb-71 (Sb ammonia triacetic acid) might significantly retard the growth of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma and spindle cell sarcoma in mice, and Guerin carcinoma in rats. It will be of interest to study the direct action of the drug on the tumour cells. In this work, smears of ascitic fluid of mice 5—6 days after inoculation of Ehrlich carcinoma were stained by means of Feulgen reaction. The morphologic changes of carcinoma cells were examined before and after Sb-71 treatment. Experiments were performed on 49 mice bearing Ehrlich ascites carcinoma. A single intraperitoneal injection of 30mg/kg of Sb-71 caused a considerable drop in the mitotic index (counted 1000 cells) within 24 hours, and the maximum action was attained in 6—12 hours after injection. The drug depressed all four stages of mitosis, and the interphase cells showed also definite changes, such as the conglutination of the structure of nuclear chromatin, increasing of degenerated cells which occurred in 1—12 hours after injection. The same dose of Sb-71 administered daily for 7 days produced more marked inhibitory effect on Ehrlich carcinoma cells. In the smears of ascitic fluid, dividing cells disappeared and a great portion of cells were contracted in size. Their nuclei exhibited a marked, agglutination and karyorrhexis with a deep stain. In the meantime, the concentration and the total number of ascites carcinoma cells were also significantly decreased in comparison with the control group. The intravenous injection of 30mg/kg of Sb-71 caused only a slight effect on mitotic activity in 1—3 hours. From the above-mentioned data, it seems that the inhibiting action of Sb-71 upon Ehrlich carcinoma is mainly due to its direct effect interfering with the mitotic process of carcinoma cells.

Sb-71用30毫克/公斤1次腹腔注射对小白鼠Ehrlich腹水瘤细胞的有丝核分裂有明显的抑制作用,时间持续达2年小时之久,以给药后6—12小时的作用最显著,各期分裂数普遍的减少,且对静止期细胞也有明显的影响(如染色质凝集和退变细胞增多等)。当以此药同剂量静脉注射时,其作用则明显减弱,仅于给药后1—3小时分裂指数略有下降,至6小时即恢复正常。用Sb-71同剂量作多次的腹腔注射,对瘤细胞的影响更为显著,此时95%以上的瘤细胞体积缩小,胞核凝缩浓染,看不到正常的分裂象,且腹水中瘤细胞浓度和总数也较对照组明显地减少。上述资料足以说明本药对Ehrlich腹水瘤的抑制作用,主要是由于它直接影响瘤细胞分裂繁殖的结果。

The results of many studies demonstrated that the chick has a specificrequirement for selenium for growth and maintenance of pancreas exocrine func-tion.The pancreas is the target organ of selenium deficiency in chicks,whileskeletal muscle,heart muscle,liver and other tissues are unaffected if vitaminE is adequate.Selenium deficiency in chicks fed adequate vitamin E results inpancreatic degeneration and fibrosis.Compared with selenium-supplementedchicks,selenium deficiency animals had lower plasma tocopherols,higher fecalneutral lipids,higher bile weigts,higher activities of plasma glutamic-oxa- loacetic transaminase,and lower activities of pancreatic lipase and trypsin.Itappeared therefore,that there was a decreased hydrolosis of fat due to pancreaticdegeneration and lack of lipase,which in turn led to the impairment of lipid-bilemicelle formation necessary for absorption of lipids and vitamin E.The additionof bile acid to the diet led to only partial correction of the impaired fat di-gestion and vitamin E absorption.Supplementation with free fatty acids andmonoolein increased vitamin E absorption and survival of chicks,but did notprevent pancreatic fibrosis.The biochemical studies showed a decrease in zymogen activity and increasein the activity of lysosomal enzymes cathepsin and acid phosphatase.Thatselenium was an integral part of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX),it was demonstrated that this enzyme was related to the prevention ofexudative diathesis (ED) in the chicks.The levels of selenium in the diet wasshown to be highly correlated with the plasma GSH-PX activity,but Contorreported that GSH-PX was shown to be not correlated with pancreatic atrophy.Histochemical studies revealed that the invasion of macrophages accounted forthe observed increase in lysosomal enzymes.No evidence of lysosomal disrup-tion was obtained during the course of the pancreatic degeneration indi-cating that role of selenium in prevevention of pancreatic degeneration wasnot in the protection of lysosomal membranes of the acinar cells.The sequence of histological lesions began with vacuolization and hylinebody formation in the acinar.Subsequently,fibroblasts could be observed in in-creasing numbers in the interacinar spaces,while the acinar cytoplasm wasshrinking basally,thereby enlarging the central lumen of the acinus.Finally,theacini appeared,as rings of cells composed mainly of small,densestaning nucleiand were completely surrounded by fibrotic tissue.The islets are very conspi-cuous,but incretory function was not disordered.The β-islet cells are unaffec-ted by selenium deficiency.Athough hyaline body formation could be observed,the breathing function of the mitochondria was not impaired.Histological examination of the pancreases indicated that wheat and sele-nomethionine were the most effective-sources of selenium.Selenomethionine wasfour times as effective as either selenium or selenocystine with respect to pre-vention of pancreatic degeneration.Severe pancreatic atrophy is followed ED.The biological availability of selenium for prevention of ED in chicks has beenshown to be greater for feedstuffs of plant than for those of animal origin.Selenocystine was shown to be more available than selenomethionine,but not aseffective as sodium selenite.

The karyotype of Allium fistulosum L. was analyzed by the method of Heidenhain's hematoxylin staining. The results indicade that chromosomes of A. fistulosum (2n=16) are metacentric or subtelocentric, and one pair of chromosomes has satellites. The ideogram of karyotype was produced by comparing the chromosomes in their sizes, the position of the centromeres, and the status of satellite. The ideogram of karyotype was produced by comparing the chromosomes in their sizes, the position of the centromeres, and the status of satellite. In this paper, the C—banding pattern of A.fistulosum was also obtained by using a modified Giemsa C—banding technique of Vosa (1972). In welsh onion all of bands appeared at distal regions, chromosome No.6 has two dark bands in the nucleolar region and satellite.

本文用铁矾——苏木精染色法分析了大葱染色体组型。结果表明,大葱(2n=16)染色体是中部或近端看丝点,第6号染色休带有随体。根据染色体大小、着丝点位置、有无随体等特点排列了染色体组型图。用修改的Vosa(1972)Giemsa C—带方法研究了大葱的C—带带型。观察到全部染色体都显清楚的瑞带,个别染色体显中间带和着丝点带。第6号染色体显付缢痕带,整个随体被浓染, 大葱(A. fistulosum L.)是石蒜科的一年生或二年生蔬菜作物,原产于东方。目前它作为我国北方的重要蔬菜而大面积栽培。近几年国内外一些作者曾研究过葱属作物的染色体,但他们的工作都没有提到葱。本工作的目的是对大葱的染色体形态和Giemsa C—带带型作一次比较深入系统的研究,为育种工作和探讨亲缘关系提供必要的依据。现将我们的工作报告如下:
