With consideration of the reason and the fact that the requirements of tower cranes for their load-lifting speeds can not be met only by varying the speed of a multi-speed motor, a drive scheme using a single-speed motor and a three-speed transmission has been worked out, and a three speed transmission based on the combined and shared gear drive system has been developed. It has been proved to have the least amount of shafts and gears, novel style compact structure, low cost, and has sucessfully been app- lied to the hoisting mechanism of the 25tm tower crane. This paper discusses mainly the design and calculation method of this con hined and shared gear transmission, which is of very pratical value. Most of the present domestic small to middle-sized tower cranes use governer motor and reductor as the hoit- ing mechanism, which has the following disadvantages. First, the lifting speed can not meet the requirement of the Construction Department standard JJ1-85 "Foundmental model parameter of tower cranes". According to this stan- dard, the minimum dropping speed is Vmin≤5m/min, the high speed is Vmax≥50m/min, the rate is Vmax/Vmin≥10, while the maximum remote pole rate of the ordinary three- speed eletric motor is 4/6/24, which means the highest speed of the motor is 24/4 = 6<10, and the motor alone can not meet the requirement. Therefore some factories adopt hydraulic level brake for slight braking (called step brak- ing) to reduce the speed, but the step braking speed is un- stable and hard to control, morever, the operation time should be limited, otherwise, the overheat may cause acci- dence. Some other factories take such measure as to change the multipling power (change the 2 multipling power to 4 multipling power). This can not achieve the Vmax and the Vmin at the same time, that is to say, the 2 multipl- ing power can get Vmax, but not the Vmin, on the con- trary, the 4 multipling power can get the Vmin but not the Vmax, and the operation is time consuming and in- convenient. So this is not practial. Second, the governor motor tends to break down more frequently than the single speed motor, and is more expensive. With respect to the present condition, the reductor has to be replaced by trans- mission with several gear ratios to get different speeds even with single speed motor. This is the problem solved in this paper.

A simple two-dimensional lattice Boltzmann model with three speeds is studied. The local equilibrium distribution functions are determined under the restrained conditions of fluid dynamics by connecting the discrete model with the continuum macro-models. Euler equation and Navier--Stokes equation are derived by using Chapman Enskog expansion and multi-scalar technique, and the viscosity formula is also provided.The model has been applied to cavity flow problem with satisfactory results.
