Due to the common features of education in different countries, the original educational theories based on the conditions of different countries must also have the universality in the world. The reason for the shortage of original pedagogic theories in China lies in the lack of the support from the traditional Chinese heritage. In addition, the lack of cultural environment of the times, the weakening of academic criticism, indifference of the problem solving sense and the separation of educational theory from practice are also the factors causing the shortage of original pedagogic theories in China. Only by emphasizing academic criticism, reinforcing the sense of problem solving, linking educational theories with educational practice and establishing the superutilitarianist solicitude for educational research can it be possible to promote the emergence of original pedagogic theories in China.

The fundamental reason for the current crisis of pedagogy lies in the weakening of its capacity for explaining practical problems concerning education. To get rid of the crisis, pedagogy must proceed to consider and fulfill the reconstruction of itself so as to become a “grown up” science for leading all disciplines of education science and studying the objective laws of human development.
