The CoO inoculant composed of 20% CoO and 80% Al_2O_3 (fused alumina) is an effective nucleator to the cast nickel-base superalloy blades. After calcining CoO and Al_2O_3 powders under 1300℃ for 2h, CoO.Al_2O_3 spinel was formed on the surface of alumina particles. It has been detected by EMPA that metallic Co of fcc crystal structure deposites on the surface due to that the CoO.Al_2O_3 spinel reduced by certain active elements contained in the cast nickel-base superalloys at elevated temperature. The CoO inoculant composed of 20% CoO and 80% Al_2O_3 (fused alumina) is an effective nucleator to the cast nickel-base superalloy blades. After calcining CoO and Al_2O_3 powders under 1300℃ for 2h, CoO.Al_2O_3 spinel was formed on the surface of alumina particles. It has been detected by EMPA that metallic Co of fcc crystal structure deposites on the surface due to that the CoO.Al_2O_3 spinel reduced by certain active elements contained in the cast nickel-base superalloys at elevated temperature. This is checked with the relative stabilities of the oxides of Ti, Cr, Al contained in the alloy with CoO. This was also verified by the pure Ni blades for which there was no effect at all. Because of the similarity of the crystal structure and the lattice constants of the metallic Co and the superalloy, the Co particles can act as nucleators refining the grains. In production practice, if SiO_2 is precipitated in local area of inner surface of mould and so the inoculant particles were covered with it, the nucleation effect is markedly reduced. In order to prevent the metallic Co remelting back, lower pouring temperature is preferred; and to enhance the reduction of CoO.Al_2O_3, higher heating temperature of mould is desirable.

Trace of silico-tungstic acid were doped into tungsten blue oxide powders in the form of aqeuous solution. Trace of silico-tungstic acid were doped into tungsten blue oxide powders in the form of aqeuous solution. The doped and undoped oxide powders were reduced into tungsten powders under the same conditions.It was shown that the average particle size and the apparent density of the reduced tungsten powder increased with the increase of the doping amount of silico-tungstic acid within the range of 0~400 ppm (silicon content).The scanning electron microscope and the X-ray photoelectron spectronetry showed that the doped silico-tungstic acid was transformed into SiO_2 during the reduction which mainly deposited on the surface of the reduced tungsten powders in the form of much smaller particles.

将微量硅钨酸,以不同浓度的水溶液形式,分别掺杂到蓝色氧化钨中,并在相同条件下还原成钨粉。结果表明,当掺杂量(以Si计)在0~0.04%时,还原钨粉的粒度及松装密度,随硅钨酸掺杂量的增加而增加。对还原钨粉表面的扫描电镜观察及X射线电子能谱分析显示,掺杂到蓝色氧化钨中的硅酸,在钨粉还原过程中转变成SiO_2,并以微粒形式分布在钨粉颗粒的表面。
