Based on the positive analysis for the various kinds of difficulties of perplexing our country's economic growth, the author con cludes that, as a "bottleneck", it is the shortage of systematic supply more than capital's shortage that restrains our country's economic growth. For this reason, system innovation is the crucial way for propelling our country's economic growing continuely and steadily.

Nowadays, networked parallel computing (NPC) has become one of themost promising approaches for establishing supercomputing environment. Howev-er, software overhead, communication latency and network bandwidth constitutethree primary aspects which influence on the sustained performance of message-passing based NPC. Particularly, with the increasingly rapid growth of processorspeed, the conventional common medium network cannot meet the requirement ofhigh-performance NPC systems. Ethernet only provides limited bandwidth, fur-thermore, while the number of computing nodes increases in NPC, the effective da-ta transfer rate would be dropping down due to the frequent collision on the trans-mission medium. It results in restriction of scalability for NPC systems using Eth-ernet interconnection. This paper makes use of the concept of system area network(SAN) to design a high-speed scaleable dynamic crossbar-based interconnectionnetwork for NPC. This paper designs and implements TH-GBNet based on a 8×8full duplex dynamic crossbar switch, which could achieve the overall data transferrate of 8. 45Gbps- This dynamic crossbar switch employs the advanced CPLD chipALTERA FLEX10K100, which has 150k gates on chip. In this paper, the secondsection illustrates the design of the organization units of TH-GBNet and the systemprototype. The next two sections describe the structure of TH-Switch and networkinterface card (NIC). The fifth section illustrates the protocol software.

随着处理器速度的不断提高,互联网络逐渐成为限制网络并行计算系统性能发挥的主要瓶颈.本文中所介绍的TH-GBNet是基于动态crossbar开关的可扩展高速互联网络.TH-GBNet系统以TH-Switch为基本开关单元,具有很强的扩展能力.其中的TH-Switch开关单元具有八个双向端口,单向的数据传输率能够达到1.056Gbps.本文主要介绍了TH-GBNet系统、TH-Switch开关单元以及网络接口卡的具体设计方案,及相应的协议软件设计.
