Abstract As regards the entrance examination for the institutions of higher learning in the P.R. of China, the total marks of each examinee are taken as the most important criterion for enrollment. In addition, the marks of individual examination subiects are considered as significant factors to evaluate the ability of the examinees, especially when the total entrance examination marks of individual examinees are quite close to each other. This paper intends to study the individual entrance examination marks which are closely related to the performance of freshmen in their relative studies in the universities or colleges and consequently taken as good referential criteria in enrollment So far it has been proved that the individual examination subjects that are related to the freshmens’ future achievements are in the following order Biology, Chemistry Chinese and Mathematics. As a result, the entrance examination marks of the above-mentioned subjects should be taken into consideration seriously when enrolling the freshmen.
