Coke formed on cracking catalysts was investigated by ESR technique and elemental analysis. For cumene cracking catalysts, it was found that when the formed coke was less than a certain amount, the intensity of ESR signal correlated well with the content of carbon. Therefore, within this range, the intensity of ESR signal may be, used to estimate the amount of formed coke on the catalysts.

The ha-bits of such crystals have been determined and surface characteristics, suchas growth hillocks, vicinity faces, ferroelastic walls and the imerging po-ints of antiphase domain boundaries, have been observed. The main macroand micro defects have been found to include cracks, inclusions, etch pits,etch channels along the dislocation lines, straight and winding etch channelsof antiphase domain boundaries. Examination of the absorption spectra ofthese crystals shows that the relationship between the thickness of crystalsand the intensity of absorption peaks obeys Beer's law, but the relationshipbetween the La content and the absorption as well as the trend of variationsof cell parameters with the change in La-doping content indicate that the La content in crystals are different from that in the initial solutions. Some impor-tant physical and crystallographic properties of PrPP and NdPP crystals arelisted in this paper, and their potential applications as laser materials arediscussed as well.

本文报导了直接以Pr_5O_(11)为原料,首次成功地生长了72×22×12mm~3的透明PrP_5O_(14)大单晶。并生长了一系列Pr_xLa_(1-x)P_5O_(14)单晶。确定了PrP_5O_(14)晶体的外形,观察了晶体的表面特征、宏观和微观缺陷,并讨论了Pr_xLa_(1-x)P_5O_(14)系列晶体晶胞参数随掺杂量变化趋势和吸收峰强度与掺杂量的关系,探讨了该晶体的激光应用前景。
