By employing these frame constants, not only the computations of the end moments of all the bars under any one loading condition are greatly simplified, but also, when the frame is to be analyzed under several loading conditions, the computations related and not related to loading are distinctly separated, and, therefore, the repeated portion of computations for each loading condition, unavoidable otherwise, is entirely eliminated. As most of the rigid frames encountered in practice have to be analyzed always under many loading conditions, the practical superiority of the methods employing frame constants over other methods is thus obvious.

Professor Zhmochken chooses cantilever beam as a basic structure for beams on elastic foundations. In his opinion, it is inconvenient to use a simple beam as a basic structure. The calculation of deflection constants is thus involved, and one kind of beam can not be used to represent all kinds of beams on elastic foundations.In this paper the writer tries to use a simple beam with two cantilevers as a basic structure. On the one hand by changing the panel number of cantilevers, one kind of beam may be used to represent all kinds of beams on elastic foundations. On the other hand, the deflection constants computed by the writer are given in the appendix, so the designer may use these constants as easily as he uses Professor Zhmochken's constants. With such a modification the number of normal equations is reduced by two to four.Besides, a method of solving normal equations by utilizing the property of reactive pressures between beams and foundations is suggested. All the normal equations may be solved combinedly by the method of eliminations and successive approximations. Two cycles are usually sufficient for the ordinary purpose.

本文系对苏联学者石氏关於彈性地基梁之理論作了适当的补充。石氏选悬臂梁作为彈性地基梁之輔助結構,本文則选二端附有悬臂之簡支梁。如是,寻求梁与地基之間的反力时,共用於建立法方程的工作,大致与石氏同,而用於求解該項方程的时間,則可大为縮短。

The analysis of stepped beams on spring foundation is a problem of practical importance. It is shown in the paper that this problem is similar to that of a continuous curved beam on rigid supports and can be most easily solved by method of special slope deflection equations. The analysis of stepped beams on spring foundation is a problem of practical importance. It is shown in the paper that this problem is similar to that of a continuous curved beam on rigid supports and can be most easily solved by method of special slope deflection equations. The formulas for computing load and shape constants being necessarily long, a number of tables of useful functions have been prepared to aid in a quick analysis and a typical example is given. The theory and functions presented in the paper are also applicable in analyzing other problems with same mathematical nature, such as the problem of axisymmetrical bending of cylinders with nonuniform wall thickness.

本文討論彈性地基上的阶形梁的計算問題。应用結構力学上“桿件常数”的观念,这个問题可以簡捷地获得解决。文中除举例說明計算步驟外,並供給必要的函数表,使这些常数能够迅速求出。这些函数同样可以用来解决数学上类似的問題,例如变截面圓筒的軸对称受弯问題。
