The studied results of the case in Wenchang 13-1 oilfield showed that the seismic stochastic inversion has higher vertical resolution in comparison with the determinative seismic inversion based on model, it can fully use seismic data in geologic model-building process of reservoir and easily gain good results.

The formulas for calculating cross-entropy from autocorrelationmatrices or power spectra and the equations for estimating continuous MCEspectrun, whose discrete approximation is Shore's MCE Spectrum, fromprior spectrum and new information in the form of constraints onautocorrelation lags are derived. It is proved that MCE spectrum is MEspectrum with additional constraints on its AR coefficients, and that MEspectrum equals MCE spectrum when the order of prior spectrum is lessthan or equal to the number of given autocorrelation lags. Then, based on these discussions, a new fast algorithm for MCEspectral estimation is developed. Instead of resolving nonlinear equations,ME spectra are computed recursively, crossly and order by order, whichapproximate prior spectrum and posterior spectrum. Thus, it not onlycontinues to have MEM's computational efficiency, but also uses rathervaluable prior information. In other words, it extends MEM to thecomputation of MCE spectrum.
