This paper reviews the works of the application of TiC in Gyro bail bearings by Boving and Hintermann et al. The ball bearing race of stainless steel wore off after the operation of 3000 hours at a speed of 24000 rpm lubricated with oil or grease and the lubricant became opaque. The bearing performance was improved by the application of TiC coating (CVD) to stainless steel races and cemented carbide balls. Evident wear tracks were found in neither races nor balls and the lubricant remained effective.

油-脂润滑的不锈钢球轴承,在转速为24000转/分运转3000小时后,套圈沟道被磨损,润滑剂也变质失去润滑性能;而不锈钢球轴承套圈与硬质合金球用化学气相沉积法(CVD)沉积的TiC镀层,其轴承的性能很好,以24000转/分的转速运转25000小时与20000小时后,套圈沟道与硬合金球表面没有明显的磨损痕迹,同时润滑剂仍保持着良好的润滑性能。 本文综述了Boving和Hintermann等人在陀螺仪球轴承中应用TiC镀层的有关报导。

Five kinds of products and materials, i.e.bot forged taper roller bearings, ceramet bearings, self-lubricating cage materials for rolling bearings, centre spacer ring m(?)terials for spherical roller bearings and sintered hard metal balls sprayed coating with PbO solid lubricants are briefly discussed in present paper.
