Today the area of those six ancient states is about the area including Zhejiang,Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan, Shanxi, Shannxi and Hebei. The distribution of bamboo areas at that time is similar to the distribution today in the basins of Yangtze river, Yellow River and Huai River. 2) From Han Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty (200 B. C—1730A.D.), there was an organization for bamboo managing from the centre to the county. It was called Si-Zhu-Jian which lasted 1930 years. The duty of Shi-Zhu-Jian was bamboo managing for the supply of bamboo products. 3) According to the record, Chinese people had rich experience on bamboo planting 2440 years ago. There also was a record of long distance introduction of bamboos. It is wonderful that Beijing bamboo was introduced to Taian of Shanton of Shandon province 2260 years ago. 4) The inscriptions on tortoise shells of Shang Dynasty (1580 B. C.) recorded that there were already already articals made of bamboos, such as baskets, pans, chests, crafts, cases, quivers and arrows etc.. Afterwards, the bamboo had been used in papermaking, building, irrigating and handicraftmaking. The bamboo carving came up to high standards in Ming Dynasty.
