In this paper, according to the analysis of the logical relationship between information and knowledge, the “Hyper Text” of oriented-object technology is introduced into the area of Knowledge Discovery in Databases and it has presented one means of Knowledge Discovery in Databases based on the transfer of state space. At the same time, a system architecture of Knowledge Discovery in Databases Oriented Knowledge Application has been constructed. By an organic integration of initiative express with man's knowledge and intelligent express for the information stored in computers, the mapping from the intellectual logic to knowledge express has been realized. by this way the pertinence and validity of Knowledge Discovery in Databases has been improved greatly.

We employ data mining technology to ascertain its performance within any period of time from data recording its activity. In section 1, we discuss how to apply data mining technology to our problem. In section 2 we discuss in detail how to extract from activity record the patterns responding to different bottle necks in the performance of the UNIX server system. In section 3, we discuss how to use these patterns to identify each performance bottle neck. We used our method to analyze from activity record the performance of EWS4800svr4.2, a specific UNIX server system, and obtained fairly good results.

为了分析 UNIX系统的性能 ,应用数据挖掘技术对系统的活动记录数据进行了分析。通过运行选取的特征程序来获得样本数据 ,分析这些样本并得到特征模式 ,然后可以对系统某一阶段的活动记录进行分析 ,以发现系统性能的变化规律以及影响系统性能的因素 ,从而提出了一种新的分析 UNIX系统性能的方法。
