The stress intensity factors near the crack tip are obviously affected by the probable compression of contraction joints between the two buttress heads. The analysis results indicate that this dam must urgently be strengthened.

The discussion in this paper provides a general framework within which one could develop rheological fracture for concrete members. Three main problems, i.e., the nonlinearity of constitutive equation, the dynamic energy release rates and the laws of the growth of interface slant branched micro—crack between the coarse aggregate and the mortar in concrete are explored.
