Objective:To investigate the expression patterns and enzymatic activity of both inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) in cycling oviduct.

Results:During estrous cycle, CD82/KAI1 mRNA was expressed much lower in estrus,while it had the similar expression in other three periods. However,protein was expressed most abundantly in estrus,and endometrial epithelial cells and stroma cells showed strongly positive.
This alteration in cycling pattern may be the basis for the inverse relationship between myosin ATPase activity and the efficiency of tension development.
Western and Northern blot analyses of RFCp140 from synchronized cells showed downregulation of RFCp140 when cells enter a G0-like quiescent state and upregulation of RFCp140 in cycling cells.
Translocation from the cytoplasmic compartment to the nucleus did not account for the significant increase in RFCp140 protein levels observed in cycling cells.
