The results showed that jian-chuan hybrid had a number of favourable attributes over Jing-Chuan and Di-Chuan hybrids. The former reached 1. 5kg of market body weight about 15 days earlier than the control group of partridge sichuan duck nomadizing in the paddy fields under the same conditions. The muscle weight of breast and thigh of Jian-Chuan hybrid ducks at 60 days of age was20% heavier than that of partridge sichuan ducks. Jian-chuan, therfore, is an ideal combination for developing duck industry in Sichuan Province.

In September, 1994, a pestilence occurred in Jiangpu County which caused 30per cent of shelduck dead and the next year spread swiftly from six communes of Jiangpu Couny to adjacent areas in Anhui Province. Dissection, experiment and medicine cure have proved the pestilence to be duck's IBD, and the IBDV is found related to chicken.

1994年9月南京市江浦县境内麻鸭发生疑似IBD,经用抗菌素与磺胺类药物治疗均无效,死亡率达30%以上。1995年此病遍及该县6个乡镇及毗邻的安徽省乌衣、相官、汉河等乡镇,对养鸭业危害较重。通过剖检病变和实验室诊断,并经药物治疗验证,证实鸭群发生了IBD,且引起鸭发病的IBDV与鸡有相关性。
