The interaction of the potassium promoter with the molybdenum components supported on silica was investigated and correlated to the sulfidation properties of the surface Mo(Ⅵ) species by using Laser Raman Spectroscopy (LRS), Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) techniques. It was found that the interacting species composed of the potassium and molybdenum components could be formed as polymolybdeate with the anions corresponding to Mo_8O_(26)~(4-) and Mo_7O_(24)~(6-), the formation of the bulk MoO_3 being greatly retarded. As shown by XRD results, large amount of the Mo(Ⅵ) species on the support could be transferred to the Mo(Ⅳ) ones during sulfidation. However, due to the effects of the potassium promoter, there were still a small amount of the Mo(Ⅵ) species, detected by LRS, which could not be completely sulfided and the Mo(Ⅴ) specise, detected by ESR, which evolved during sulfidation existed on the silica support. The effects of the promoter became significant with the increase of K / Mo ratios in the catalysts.

In this paper, the sulfidation kinetics of alloy Fe20Mo in 1 kPa sulphur vapor of 700 900℃ were measured with a spiral quartz spring thermobalance. The sulphiding speeds were calculated. The structure of sulfidation product were analysed with SEM. Results shown, its sulfidation kinetics commonly involves an initial linear rule plus the later parabolic law. 本文用石英弹簧热重分析法测定了Fe20Mo合金在不同温度的1kPa硫蒸汽中的硫化动力学曲线,计算了硫化速度常数,用扫描电镜观察分析了硫化产物层的结构。结果表明,加入Mo使合金的硫化速度比纯铁的降低了一个数量级,合金硫化遵从初期线性加后期抛物线的规律。温度升高使硫化加快且FeS晶体生长趋于完善。硫化产物主要分两层,外层为FeS,内层为富Mo的复杂硫化物且包含未完全硫化的FeMo金属间化合物相。应用热力学理论和以上结果探讨了合金的硫化机理
